Boren has served as an NBA Free Throw Shooting Coach for the past 14 years.  He was with the Golden State Warriors from 1993 to  199 5, the New York Knicks in 1996, and the Dallas Mavericks since 1997.   

The Mavericks have finished either first or second in free throw shooting in 7 of the last 9 regular seasons.  In the past eight years the Mavericks have made the playoffs, and have averaged 81.1% over 90 playoff games, by far the leader in free throw shooting.  One NBA record they established was in a 2003 playoff game at San Antonio where the team made 49 consecutive free throws.
