This small tool can easily carried in any cue case and is made with very sharp needle type pins. The tip pick is best used by rocking around the surface of the tip. The harder you press, the deeper into the tip you will go with the tool.
Once you have used the tip pick you will see that it not only breaks the surface up making it more playable but it also holds chalk again which increases grip.
