What is
the difference between a Giclée and a Lithograph? |
Giclées are Museum
quality Fine-Art reproductions, also called Archival
Prints. These are the result of highly advanced
digital printing technology. The color and artistic value,
quality of materials, and overall looks make a
Fine-art Giclée much more valuable and much more
expensive to produce than any other type of
reproduction. The Iris printer produces the
finest print of it's kind. Tyrone Lewis prints
are done with this printer to assure you of the
finest possible quality.
A Fine-art Giclée is the closest to
an original painting possible. These artworks are
made with an ultra-high-resolution fine-art printer,
using the very finest archival inks on acid free
paper. Independent testing by Wilhelm Imaging
Research Inc. (a world-leader in image-longevity
testing) has established that these
"Archival-Prints" or Giclées will last more than 200
years before any noticeable shift in color integrity
occurs. Unlike regular printed reproductions,
Giclées are truly durable "Museum quality" Fine-Art
reproductions.
Its Market value increases even more
if it is of a limited edition,
and if it has been pencil signed and numbered by the
Artist. When the edition is 100 or less,
the value increases greatly and becomes an
appreciable investment. The Giclées of Tyrone
Lewis are accompanied by an
Authenticity Certificate, indicating title of the
original, and size of the limited edition.
Lithographs are printed
by a process of etching or chemically treated stone
or metal plates (metal in this case) to absorb or
repel inks in the desired pattern. Each color
has a separate plate. High quality, acid free
papers are used of various weights with the results
being a beautiful reproduction that will endure for
many decades. They are one of the oldest forms
of reproduction, and considered to be collectable
and an appreciable investment.
